"In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy." William Blake
In some parts of the world, December expresses itself by painting snow, ice, sleet and
freezing cold across the land.
However, dear artists, & dear yogis;
If you can bundle up, there are grand opportunities for photography, waiting just outside the door.
With this walk, we will endeavor to use the skill of observing the bare trees, with the often harsh skies and challenging temperatures to cast our focus on the Issness of nature.
Even in her most restrained, mother earth has gifts to offer us if we have the opportunity to spend time outdoors.
"I pray this winter be gentle and kind – a season of rest from the wheel of the mind."
– John Geddes
"One kind word can warm three winter months" - Japanese Proverb
If you are lucky, you have the grandeur and beauty of snow to explore and fold yourself into this time of year. If you live in a very damp, moist, and rainy area as I do, it can be dreary, but somehow a transformation occurs once you go out into the middle of a rainstorm. It becomes transformative. A grand adventure, every time.
Finally; a reading of a poem about persistence, and the type of hope
that leaves the light on.
Toward the In or Out
of a time when the mountain pass
treacherous and vile
Boots sliding on glassy rock;
broken falling South
emerge as intentions
despite the stories;
despite the cost
The impossible views;
its own earthly reward
and a knowing
that every mountain pass
and must be climbed.
