Strolling through nature is an opportunity to take advantage of a scarce commodity in our modern lives; Silence. Hundreds of years ago, silence took over our consciousness most of the day throughout a lifetime. The sound of the wind in the trees, and the birds above made up the majority of our sonic repertoire. This is not the case today.
When was the last time you spent an entire day in silence? When you were in the womb most likely. No joke.
Many people are walking around with noise cancelling headphones or ear buds on. However, not for silence but for streaming music, or audio books into their head spaces.
One of the primary aims when “Wondering,” is to focus your consciousness internally on the breath, and absolutely in silence.
There is a saying that, In prayer we speak to the Infinite, and in meditation we listen. It is vastly impossible to hear anything without the environment of silence. Possibly allow a time every day to listen, while mindfully creating art from all the beauty and abundance around you, no matter where you are.
