“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” --Saint Francis
Observe the sages, the wise ones, and the enlightened humans around you.
What do they have in common?
They walk in peace. They speak with words of peace. They breathe, create, and meditate on peace.
Mindfulness doesn’t turn off. It can be a doorway of being
in the present that allows us to sink deeply into whatever is happening with a full heart and our full attention.
Right now, what is on your mind? What are you carrying?
Jon Kabat Zinn states, “The real meditation is how you live your life.”
Walking in nature with presence,
cultivate, and solidify how we are in the world. How we choose to be.
“Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need.” - Mother Teresa
The Mantra and Natural Photography Prompt for the week:
As we live inside
the season of winter, there is an opportunity to slow down, stay warm, and connect with the slumbering nature all around us. Often as you head out, you will walk solo even in busy parks and woods because many choose to stay indoors. There is a secret magic quality to being alone in winter on stormy days.
This may be an opportunity to take photographs of unique trees, bushes, logs, or boulders that you walk past quickly during the warmer seasons.
As you anchor yourself in, spending time with individual forms to consciously exchange the energy of peace, see if any images pop out to capture with your camera.
See if you can capture sleepy winter trees and bushes, branches, and rocks with your camera in an honoring way. Trust yourself. As you walk, notice what pulls you in and slow to a stop as often as possible. You may be surprised how often you find images to shoot despite the cold.
What natural images did you stop to find peace with, and to thank? You may find some unexpected images to capture if you can see trees and bushes, rocks, and winter berries as unique individuals.
A Journaling Prompt for the writers out there:
Write about the burdens you carried with you on your nature walk and check-in afterward to see if everything feels lighter. Write about the before, during, and after.
What did you feel as you connected with nature giving and receiving peace?
This wraps up the session for the week.
Have fun exploring, stay Curious, and Enjoy your mindful time walking and making photographs outside in nature. Thank you for joining me.
