The Curiosity and Wonder of All Things by Molly Jo Triplett
One of the magical things about the Wonder Compass process as a life tool, is the daily adventure of discovering the wonder inside the mundane.
Try this simple experiment next time you think of it. No matter where you are and what you are doing, stop.
Settle into the present moment and the awareness and rhythm of your Ujaiia breath. (Breathe deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth. Create the sound of the ocean waves in and out.)
Now create a compass around you. You are at its center. Your heart is the middle. North is in front, East to the right, South is behind you and West is to your Left.
Look North from where you’re sitting and see what you can find visually. Appreciate any and all forms you find, without the need of labeling them. Make your way East with your gaze. Do you see any patterns or lines or shadow there to become aware of? Continue on South of you (behind you.) Do you see any plant or animal life out the window or close by? (Includes wall art too!) Breathe into the grounded peace of the forms you find.
Finally, Look West or to the Left of you. Is there anything you can wrap your attention around which you may consider photo worthy?
This is all about the adventure of discovering Awe. The Awe we had when we were young, when the world was alive with the vast newness of things. This can return if we sink into the simplest of now moments.
