“In the woods we return to reason and faith,” Ralph Waldo Emerson
The forest fires on the west coast in the Summer & Fall of 2020, changed many lives on the West Coast of America. They also stirred up old debates about protecting wood lands & the maintenance of old growth forests & trees. When it came to old ancient woods & rainforests, in this place and at this time, trees were becoming the enemies as new homes and communities expanded across the countryside. This also came at a time when humans heavily relied on trees - to breathe, to filter and clean their water and stabilize the land & ground soil. Despite this, trees were being cut down, trimmed back and chipped up, at a rapidly accelerating pace.
